Who We Are
Lusuganda Development Initiative (LUSUDI) is a nationally registered, Indigenous Non-Governmental Organisation that has been at the forefront of community transformation in Uganda since 26th August 2009. With its roots firmly grounded in the Kigezi Sub-Region, LUSUDI has championed inclusive, grassroots-driven development, reaching some of the most vulnerable populations in rural communities.
Over the years, LUSUDI has evolved from implementing small, isolated projects to delivering multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral programs with significant impact. These programs have not only expanded in scope but have also touched the lives of thousands, creating lasting change across diverse communities. Our core areas of focus include:

Central to LUSUDI’s work is an Integrated Community Development Approach, grounded in the principles of participatory development. This model ensures that community voices are at the heart of every intervention, fostering ownership, sustainability, and resilience.
The adoption of this approach is a result of years of practical field experience and learning. We are proud that our major partners have fully embraced this strategy, offering steadfast support that has enabled us to deliver high-impact, community-led solutions for Uganda’s most vulnerable populations. OUR MISSION
To advocate and promote sustainable integrated development programmes through environment and natural resources management, good governance and social accountability, community health, evidence based research, awareness and education, creativity and innovativeness, information and resource sharing for the present and future generations in Uganda and beyond.
OUR OBJECTIVES
To contribute to nature conservation and sustainable natural resources management at community, national, regional and international levels.To improve health and wellbeing of local people through advocacy and encouragement of community members to actively participate in their own health care initiatives.To mitigate climate change and ensure increased food security, diversify sources of income for improved livelihoods of communities.To engage and influence government decisions on resource mobilization and utilization for equitable and sustainable development.To sensitize and empower communities to effectively participate in the decision-making processes in the development agenda to demand for accountability and good governance from their leaders.To promote citizens’ participation in access to information to inform their evidence-based advocacy agenda that demands better responsiveness and accountability by the duty-bearers.
