LUSUDI Shares Critical Health Monitoring Findings with Rubanda Stakeholders
Key leaders, community representatives, and health advocates gathered at the Rubanda Town Council Hall for a half-day dissemination meeting to discuss the findings of a recent health facility monitoring exercise conducted by the Lusuganda Development Initiative (LUSUDI).
The meeting, which ran from 9:00 AM to 2:38 PM on 12th December, 2024, brought together 20 participants, including duty bearers, media representatives, Participatory Budget Club (PBC) members, Community Budget Facilitators (CBFs), and LUSUDI staff. The goal was to present the monitoring report’s findings and agree on practical solutions to improve health service delivery in the district.
The monitoring exercise, carried out between July and December 2024, revealed serious service delivery gaps in Rubanda’s health facilities, including shortages of medical staff, lack of proper infrastructure, and inconsistent medical supplies.
In his remarks, the District Health Officer (DHO) noted the importance of accurate data on medical personnel. “The government currently uses both old and current staffing structures. We need to agree on a standard structure so we can have a clear and accurate count of medical personnel in the district,” he explained.
Representing the Office of the President, Mr. Hilary Bindeeba, Assistant RDC of Rubanda, praised LUSUDI’s initiative and its impact on grassroots communities. “This activity has benefited the lower local person in ensuring better, sustainable service delivery,” he said. “It is through such open discussions that we can find solutions that work for everyone.”

The dissemination session encouraged participants to react to the report’s findings and propose interventions. LUSUDI’s Executive Director, Byamukama Simon, emphasized the importance of these discussions in bridging the gap between communities and decision-makers. “When we bring all stakeholders into the same room, we move from talking about problems to identifying actionable solutions,” he said.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment from all stakeholders to work together to address the identified gaps from staffing and equipment shortages to improving infrastructure in Rubanda’s health facilities.
